Mumbai – The Big B Sir Amithbh Bachchan’s magic touched again to the country’s television viewers. Season 6 of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) the game show on Sony Entertainment (SET) saw a bumper rating of 6.1 TVR (Television Viewer Ratings) in its opening episode. Now, compare it to the opening score of its previous season, when the ratings stood at 5.24 TVR.
Kaun Banega Crorepati, which was originally telecast first time in 2000 on Star Plus, is being aired on Sony since 2010. The opening episode of the property had scored 6.2 TVRs the episode aired on the following day earned a 5.3 TVR and this was primarily because the show was contending against DID Dance Ke Superkids, according to television audience measuring agency TAM.
Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice president and business head, SET said, “we were confident that viewers would really enjoy watching this season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The numbers more than corroborate this. We are really pleased with the opening week results and there is a lot more to look forward to on the show in the days to come. Overall, we are delighted at the performance of all our shows and over the next four to five weeks we aim to further consolidate our position.”
Business Standard reports associate sponsors for Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 2012 are CEAT bike tyres, Axis Bank, Justdial, Sony Bravia and Aakash. Cadbury has paid Rs 18-20 crore for its association with KBC-6. Associate sponsors such as Idea have been charged Rs 10-12 crore.
