TCS became a victim of cyber attack on Sunday when the company website was hacked and the domain name was put up for sale, Hackers put TCS website ‘For Sale’ in English & French. IT service provider website hacked? People were surprised to hear this. This hack will definitely lead to total embarrassment for the software firm who thrives on creating software and security systems day in and day out.

It was hacked for nearly three hours and www.tcs.com displayed the message ‘this domain name is for sale’ for nearly three hours and was restored by around 7 am.The attack happened at the domain name registrar’s end, which is Network Solutions in this case.

Network Solutions is one of the top five domain name registrars on internet, managing almost 6.4 million domains.

According to techie-buzz.com, it was a French hacker who did the malicious act. This hack is alleged to be a DNS hijack which is quite similar to the breach that Twitter buckled under last year. The good part is that none of the servers were compromised. Initial investigation reveals a DNS redirection at the domain name registrar’s end. TCS is busy in further investigations.

PayPal stop its services in India – without providing the reason. The company has decided not to allow payments of individuals to and from India. Till date no one knows the exact reason behind this decision, but the bloggers believe that this lies in the new banking regulations in the country However, commercial entities will still be able to make payments through the Service

Cable television and broadband service provider Hathway Cable & Datacom has received a commitment for Rs 119.88 crore from 13 anchor investors (Qualified institutional buyer who gets an allotment of up to 30 percent of the institutional quota), a day before opening of its initial public offer (IPO) at the lower band of its issue of about 49.95 lakh equity shares.

The company would offer 2.77 crore shares at a price band of Rs 240-265 per share in the issue that opens on February 9 and closes on February 11 and is rising between Rs 666-737 crore in total”. About one thirds of the IPO proceeds (230 crore) will be utilized for customer acquisition while the rest will be used to expand its broadband business, digitization, and repayment of loans according to the president-finance and company secretary, Milind Karnik.

The shares are proposed to be listed on the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company has had a CAGR of 34% in income in the first four years and operating profit has expanded by 100% and is cash positive.
