Home » Science & Tech » 17th NCSC to be held for the first time in Gujarat

The upcoming 17th National Children Science Congress (NCSC), an annual event, organized with support from National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) of Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, will be held for the first time in Gujarat since its origination in 1993. More than 600 young minds will showcase their scientific innovations.

This five day event will begin from December 27 and will last till December 31, 2009. The Gujarat Council of Science City, in association with SGVP International School, Ahmedabad, will host the five-day scientific programme.

All the activities during the conference will revolve around the central theme of ‘Planet Earth – Our Home, Explore, Care and Share,’ according to a press release. Children in the age group of 10-17 will participate in the conference. Around 50,000 students are expected to participate in several programs at the event.

National Children Science Congress will be inaugurated by Vice-president of India, Mohammad Hamid Ansari. The State Chief Minister, Narendra Modi will be the chief guest.

Participants will also get a chance to interact with well-known scientists of the country Ravi Saxena, principal secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat stated, that such events will boost a sense of discovery in the children by using skill for eager study, raising relevant questions, building models, anticipating solutions on the basis of the model, trying out various possible choices and hitting the most suited solution through experiments, field work, research and ground-breaking ideas.
