‘Abe’ as Abraham Thomas is known in the industry, has bid adieu to Red FM as COO. He had reportedly put in his papers three months ago and had been serving his notice period since then. Thomas will be serving his notice period till Friday.
Thomas had joined Red FM in March 2005. Prior to that, he was ad sales head of MTV India. Before MTV, Thomas was heading ad sales at Sony Entertainment Television
(Set) India.
Abraham Thomas took over Red FM when it ran just 3 stations, saw it mount to number 1 position, and supervised the recent merger of sister brand SFM, bringing with it 45 stations of its own under the enormously popular Red FM brand.
It is learnt that he plans to either start his own venture or take up an offer from another radio venture.
About Thomas:
He began his career with The Indian Express and became All-India Head of Ad Sales. Afterwards, he joined Sony Entertainment Network as Director – Sales for SET, MAX and AXN channels. Thomas then moved to MTV Networks heading revenues for MTV, Nickelodeon and Vh1.
Sun TV Network had consolidated its FM radio stations outside Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry under the Red FM umbrella brand, earlier in August.
Sun moved its 38 FM stations (including 23 stations of South Asia FM LTD, 14 stations of Kal Radio LTD and one station of Udaya FM Pvt LTD) to the Red FM brand, bringing total number of stations to 41.
