Bajaj Auto: Sharp Increase in sales by 84% in Nov. – Bajaj Auto located in Pune reported today that it has registered a sharp increase in its motorcycle sales by 84.07% at 2,42,390 units in the month of November. Last year, the company had sold 1,31,681 units in the month of November.
BAL ascribed the rise in its monthly sales to its newly launched 100cc Discover DTS-Si and Pulsar. The company had sold 94,265 units of its new 100cc Discover DTS-Si and 50,153 units of Pulsar. During the month, the overall sales of two wheelers have been increased by 83.24% to 2,42,648 units as compared to last year’s 1,32,421 units.
In November, BAL’s exports have been raised by 46.18% from 67,397 units to 98,521 units. It was the highest ever monthly export accounted by the company. In addition, the total vehicle sales of the company has been grown up by 73.25% stood at 2,76,759 units as compared to last year’s 1,59,747 units.
The company has also seen rise in its three wheeler sales during November month up by 24.83% stood at 34,111 units as compared to 27,326 units during last year. BAL has not provided any details, but stated that its commercial vehicle sales will continue to rise all across several segments, letting in in-city, sub-urban and goods carrier categories.
On December 9, the company is launching its all new sub-150cc Pulsar as an effort to force its growth rate from January month next year. In the mean time, BSE Sensex was up by 27.43 points, 0.16% to 17,225.70. So far during the day, the stock had hit a high of Rs. 1687 and low of Rs. 1648 and a 52 week low of Rs. 294.65.
India’s second biggest two-wheeler maker by sales has an equity capital of Rs 144.68 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10. Last month, BAL had signed an agreement with France’s Renault and Japan’s Nissan Motor to make a low cost car, which would be released in year 2012. In addition, Bajaj Auto and Renault-Nissan had declared the formation of a joint venture in May 2008, to develop, produce and market an ultra low-cost car code-named ‘ULC’, the price of which would start from $2,500 (about Rs 1 lakh). Though, differences starts arising between the partners, as Renault was more focused on having a low cost car similar to Tata’s Nano but Bajaj Auto was keener in making a car with better mileage as compared to existing cars in the market.
Bajaj Auto’s net profit jumped 117.85% to Rs 402.83 crore on a 15.4% increase in sales to Rs 2793.22 crore in Q2 September 2009 over Q2 September 2008. Total vehicle sales had risen 7% to 6.86 lakh units in Q2 September 2009 over Q2 September 2008.
