Now get ready for a faster life as 3G mobile services have eventually entered Gods own country. The northern city of Kozhikode will witness the launch of the service by BSNL. One can even install fring/skype on the mobile and make free voice plus video calls to other mobiles in world having fring/skype or to computers having popular messengers like yahoo messenger, gtalk, skype etc.
This service supports speeds of up to 3.6Mbps and assures to give seamless online internet experience to users on their mobile handsets and without any difficulty users can experience video calls, blazing fast Internet access on the go and live streaming of video.
As per the site, kerela.bsnl.co.in “3G allows simultaneous use of speech and advanced data services 3G technology offers unprecedented quality in voice call as well as a wide range of compelling data services.”
“This includes: Video calling, Internet connectivity, Mobile email, Multimedia services such as sharing of digital photos and movies via wireless means, Videos and music downloads, Real-time multiplayer gaming.”
By the end of January, the service will embrace all the 14 district headquarters of the state. Apart from these locations, seven more major towns would be 3G equipped by the end of the month.
The current capacity of 3G connections in the state is just 2.65 lakh with 37,758 lines taken up by Kozhikode alone, according to BSNL Kozhikode General Manager C Sunitha.
Hundred base stations to be set up to expand the services in Kozhikode, he said.
BSNL will invest Rs 650 crore in Kerala for 3G services as well as upgrading 2G network.
As per BSNL plans,
• Video calls can be done at 30 paise/min.
• A recharge of 120 Rs can provide 6 months validity with 20 Rs usage.
• 50 free video calls and 25 MB internet usage.
The existing users can move to 3G without changing the number. The prepaid customers can shift to 3G without any charges and postpaid users with a charge of 25 Rs.
