Calls without IMEI or that with all zeros has been shunned by the government on Dec. 1st.
All such calls are not processed and rejected by the service providers as per the government directives issued to them. The government has banned such calls because of security reasons as such callers cannot be trapped and can pose a threat to India’s security.
“This is a must for security reasons and also for tracking lost phones in terms of identification,” said Arun Goyal, regulatory affairs advisor at the India Cellular Association in New Delhi. Mr. Goyal also said that all mobile-phone operators have been ordered to disconnect services to unregistered phones.
These calls are banned in the interest of subscribers and national securitiy. Genuine IMEI Implant(GII) is also developed to implant genuine IMEI on the handsets having null or zero IMEI.All the service providers are supporting government move .
