This was done so that neither India nor Afghanistan could undermine Pakistan. She also said that Pakistan has used terror against India and unfriendly regime in Afghanistan in the past. Pakistan has supported groups that would act as their proxies in order to prevent India or a unfriendly Afghan government from undermining their position.

Though Ms. Clinton says that situation has changed a lot with time, but she is not sure about the fact that whether Pakistan has completely stopped using terror against India and Afghanistan. She also accepted that fact that US had created different radical outfits and provided support to terrorists masterminds like Osama Bin Laden to fight against former Soviet Union. But unfortunately that backing has boomeranged. She accepted that fact that they have created Mujahidin force against Soviet Union. They trained them, equipped them and funded them along with Osama Bin Laden. Now US is force to fight the very forces that they helped create.

She said that Pakistan is paying a “big price” for supporting US war against terror. They are doing so for the sake of their own national interest. Thus it shows that they are making adjustments in their own assessment of their national interest.

However Robert Gates, who is the Secretary Of Defense, said that Pakistan have withdrawn and moved an equivalent of about six divisions of its army from the Indian Border.

A portion of the main terminal for passengers at the Glasgow Airport went through a process of evacuation yesterday, in the evening, soon after security found a package which looked suspicious. According to the police, the incident was nothing but a false alarm.

According to a statement issued by the Strathclyde Police, the package was found at 7:55pm, local time. Neil Richardson, who is the airport spokesman, said on the telephone that officers were present at the central search area of the airport. The police later commented that though the package turned out to be safe, the airport had acted correctly by getting the passenger terminal evacuated.

The airport released a statement which said: “Glasgow Airport’s operations team worked closely with Strathclyde Police to ensure that terminal operations resumed as quickly as possible after the incident was stood down.”

After the air freight bombs were found last week which had their source in Yemen and were targeted towards the synagogues in Chicago, security at airports all over the world has been beefed up. In the current week, quite a few explosives were sent via parcels to a few embassies located in Athens. One was also sent to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office. The resultant effect was that Greece cancelled the delivery of mails to foreign nations for a period of 48 hours.

Glasgow, being the largest city of Scotland, has an airport which has a load of about 8 million passengers per year, as claimed by its website.

Nikki Haley, who is a republican and also the daughter of Sikh parents who were immigrants from Amritsar in India, will become the new Governor for the state of South Carolina. The decision is followed by her defeat of the Vincent Sheheen from the Democratic Party.

The results were close as Nikki managed to secure the votes amounting to 51% against Sheheen who had 47%. The elections took place on Tuesday.

She can now boast of being the first woman chief executive of South Carolina and the second Governor of Indian origin after Bobby Jindal, the Governor of Louisiana. Jindal, who is also a Republican, achieved the feat three years ago.

Haley was born as Nimrata Randhawa, tasted victory after it was reported by the South Carolina State Election Commission that there was a heavy turnout of voters after the polls began on Tuesday. It was also believed that the battle between Haley and Sheheen was the most expensive in the history of elections in South Carolina.

Haley began with a series of controversies though which included the racist comments against her by a lawmaker and unproven accusations of her being involved in an affair by a political blogger.

For the post of the California Attorney General, the fight is proving to be a tough one between Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party and Republican Steve Cooley. The former is the District Attorney of San Francisco and the latter is a Los Angeles County district Attorney.

Europe’s two nuclear armed powers signed a deal on Tuesday for cooperation on defense. They will cooperate on testing war head facilities and share air craft carrier. They feel that this will help them to preserve their military might in this new era.

British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy held talks in London. Their aim is to uphold a new era of collaboration. They feel that this will help them to spread the huge cost of defense as their economies are still recovering from global financial crisis.

Sarkozy told reporters that their decision is unique and it represented a new level of trust and confidence between two nations. This is also unequal in history.

The two largest military powers of the continent will declare the formation of a joint expeditionary force. There will be 5,000 troops which will be deployed together at a short notice on peace keeping, rescue or combat mission.

It has been said by senior British officials that two countries will also agree to share used air craft carriers. They have planned for defense cut. It means that they will have to share one carrier each in future.

Cameron told in a Cabinet meeting that nuclear testing will save hundreds of millions of pounds. However the officials refused to declare how much will be saved over all by the defense agreement.

On Monday Cameron told to the lawmakers that there are many areas where they can work together and increase their capabilities. This in turn will also save money.

Seiji Maehara, who is the foreign minister of Japan and Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi have agreed to improve their bilateral ties.

Relations between two countries worsened last month over a group of disputed island. The regional summit which was organized in Vietnam was dominated by discussions about the election in Burma which is scheduled to be held next month.

In the summit which was organized in Hanoi, the Japanese and Chinese envoys met privately. Both the countries wishes to improve their relation. The relation got worse when a Chinese shipping boat collided with two Japanese patrol boats. The incident took place near a group of disputed island in East China Sea.

The islands that are known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China are under the control of Japan. But time and again China has claimed rights over them. These islands are close to shipping lanes with rich fishing grounds. Islands might even have rich oil deposits.

It has been reported that the discussion was held in a good atmosphere. Mr. Maehara said to the reporters that leaders of both the countries will hold a meeting in Hanoi. But there are doubts whether Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will agree to hold direct talks with Japan’s Prime Minister Naoto Kan.

Mr. Maehara also said that both of them are looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship. He also said that he had asked Mr. Yang to remove the sanction on the export of the rare earth minerals to Japan. He also requested Mr. Yang to reopen talks on the joint development of a gas field in East China Sea.

Other disputes with China on territorial matters are expected to be discussed at the summit. The summit will be attended by the leaders from Asia, US and Russia.

The results are based on the surveys conducted by Transparency International. This organization monitors the amount of corruption with the help of the Corruption Perception Index. The organization is based in Berlin, in Germany.

The factors which are taken into consideration are bribes offered to the officials of the government, misuse of funds which belong to the public and anti corruption drives. Countries which rank the highest on the list are considered to be the least corrupt and the countries which find a place at the bottom are the ones which are the most corrupt.

Somalia is placed right below Afghanistan and Myanmar with a total score of 1.1. Finland, Canada, Sweden and Australia are among the top countries scoring 9.2, 8.9, 9.2 and 8.7 respectively. The United Kingdom holds the 20th position while United States of America has managed to make itself comfortable in the 22nd position. According to Transparency International, the survey signifies that the corruption problem is a formidable one and needs to be combated.

They stated that: “With governments committing huge sums to tackle the world’s most pressing problems, from the instability of financial markets to climate change and poverty, corruption remains an obstacle to achieving much needed progress.”

Phillip Crowley is the spoke man of the Department Of State. He told to the reporters that they are very well aware of the aspiration of India to play a major global role. He also said that they are welcoming India to act as a major player on different regional and global issue.

He was also asked that whether US president Barrack Obama will support India on their stand for the permanent seat in Security Council. But he said that there are many countries in this world that also possess the same aspiration like India. But US will work within the United Nation and Security Council.

Over the interview he also said that they will work in a constructive manner within the United Nation by following all the reforms of UN. They have welcomed the election on Tuesday in the United Nation. The election was contested by India, South Africa, Columbia, Portugal, and Germany. They have contested it for two years term which will be starting from the January. He commented that they are looking forward to work with all the members in a constructive manner.

United States hopes that all the new members must work to maintain the international peace and security. Later he said that different changes are taking place through out the whole world. So it is very essential for the entire members to act in a coherent manner. For that they need involvement, engagement and support from the emerging powers.

Florencio Avalos, who was the first miner to be rescued is 31 years of age and was greeted by his family when he resurfaced in a rescue capsule. He was in good health and also received a hug from the President of Chile Mr. Sebastian Pinera.

He will be remembered in the coming years because he was the first man to emerge from the annals of the earth after 69 days of being trapped in the mine. He was hence the first one too to have faced the media spotlight. He was considered to be the first man to be rescued as he was the second to the most senior miner and was considered as the most able man to tackle a rescue operation if it went haywire somewhere.

The rescue operation is expected to go on for two days as the miners will be brought to the surface one after the other.

The fact that Avalo was found in good health from a depth of about 2000 feet below the ground after about 10 weeks actually celebrates the ability of man to endure the harshest circumstances and come out victorious. Man’s basic instinct for survival could never find a better example than this one.
