Coolpad dual-mode handsets now in India with Reliance Webstore : Coolpad has signed an MOU with Reliance Webstore which is the retail chain of Reliance ADA Group, under which they will sell the handsets through Reliance World and Reliance Mobile stores across the country.

The agreement is evaluated at about Rs. 800 crore as a revenue upside for Reliance over the next few years.

China based Coolpad Communications has plans to invest around Rs. 400 crore in India telecom sector in order to establish its range of dual mode handsets and to set up a research and development centre in the country.

The company is planning to roll-out five models of dual-mode handsets in India by December. The company believes that the partnership with Reliance ADA Group marks the commencement of company’s global journey.

India is Coolpad Communications first global destination. Company conceives that Indian smart phone market has immense potential to create significant milestones in the global expansion plans of Coolpad Communications. Coolpad is aiming over 15% market share in the smartphone category in the next three years. Coolpad is offering the handset at pocket friendly rates just to gain immediate foothold in the Indian smartphone markets.

The company is projecting to launch dual SIM smartphones in the sub Rs. 8,000 range over the next four months. Dual band phones provide users to have both GSM and CDMA based connections on the same handset. Coolpad’s agreement with Reliance Webstore will allow it, immediate market access across 700 cities in the country where Reliance has its retail presence.

Reliance ADA group belives that the Mou signed with with Coolpad Communications follows the successful test marketing of the brand across several cities in India. The dual-mode smartphones will leverage Reliance’s nationwide presence in both CDMA and GSM services.
