The fever dengue has taken the shape of an epidemic in the last few days. In Monday itself 75 new cases were reported which increases the total to 2371. In city hospitals the problem of scarcity of beds took place.
Many hospitals also refused to admit the patient suffering from acute dengue fever. They have reserved some beds for those who are suffering from the Dengue Shock Syndrome or Dengue hemorrhagic syndrome. In Max Heath care in Saket there are total 90 patients suffering from dengue. While in Moolchad Medicity there are 74 dengue patients.
AIIMS is not admitting patients who have platelet count more than 20,000. According to the Superintendent of AIIMS out of 200 beds 54 have been occupied by dengue patients.
An expert commented that people are suffering from panic. Anybody with a fever wants to get admitted to a hospital. But the hospitals have got criteria to admit. So they can’t do so. But the pressures are coming from the family members.
A doctor has said that people with 30,000 platelets can also be managed in the home. Only those whose capacity of taking food have gone down and are constantly vomiting them need to be admitted in the hospitals.
According to the officials in the blood banks the demand of blood has also gone up. For that regular blood donation camps are to be held everyday. A survey was conducted by MCD. They came up with the report that out of 1000 cases, 758 cases are reported to be the age group between 11- 40 years. Majority of the cases are reported from the central and south Delhi.
