Google Doodle today marks the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street. You will see the Muppet characters on Google’s logo today.
Sesame Street is an American Children’s TV Series. It is an educational children’s show and evolved into a sophisticated program that combined education and entertainment both. Sesame Street is popular for its Muppets. Muppets are a group of puppet characters created by Jim Henson, one of the most popular puppeteers in American history. Sesame Street was launched on November 10, 1969. It is the longest running children’s program on US television.
Sesame Workshop once known as the Children’s Television Workshop (CTW) in America is a non – profit organization which produced the show.
Reports revealed that US first lady will appear on the Children’s TV show “Sesame Street” on the November 10th episode, to ostensibly kick off its 40th anniversary season.
She is scheduled to do a section on the show, that is intended at encouraging children to plant gardens and to eat healthy food.
The US first lady will also be showing children how to plant lettuce, tomato and cucumber seeds.
Sesame Workshop planned to release tow new brand history books to celebrate the landmark of the occasion. The 40th-anniversary highlights scheduled in 2009 are:
Release of the book Sesame Street: A Celebration of Forty Years of Life on the Street, by Louise Gikow and Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street by Michael Davis, a former columnist for TV Guide.
“Sesame Street,” broadcasts in over 120 countries and 8 million viewers on 350 stations throughout the world.
