IGNOU, Indira Gandhi National Open University, one of India’s premier universities has opted for conventional exam for (IGNEAT), IGNOU Engineering Aptitude Test which would be Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) based. IGNOU made this move after learning the hard way after the online admission test for IGNOU’s full-time engineering programme had to be cancelled on October 31 following server failure.
IGNOU’s online test was a total debacle.
IGNOU’s first endeavor for online admissions through the IGNOU Engineering Aptitude Test (IGNEAT) has now been postponed to December 27, 2009. The test will not be conducted online.
Common Admission Test (CAT) aspirants faced the same problem where the servers failed to respond after the aspirants attempted the first two questions of the exam.
The exam was outsourced to Chennai-based Sri Angala Parameshwari Education Trust.
University has reached a unanimous resolution that the exam would not be outsourced after the university had a bad experience. A Committee is under process of creating its own system for online admission and other tests. A secured system would take some time therefore, this year exams would be OMR based. This statement was according to the head of the School of Engineering and Technology, Ajit Kumar.
