IIT Delhi Convocation – A Dream Come true for 1400 Engineers & Scientists – IIT Delhi Convocation day held on Sunday 9th August 2009, was like a dream day for 1400 Engineers and Scientists who received their degrees at that special 40th Annual Convocation of IIT, Delhi.

It was a red letter day for students and on this auspicious occasion, Chief Guest and ISRO Chairman Dr. G Madhavan Nair spoke to the graduates about the long journey which takes graduates towards their bright future. Nair discussed about India’s accomplishments in creating talented and skilled human resources, constructing research laboratories and infrastructural facilities etc. He also said, “In the area of science and technology our success in space, atomic energy and defence has attracted the attention of the international community”.

He puts more emphasize on how modernization and advancement in science and technology were taking their place at such a speedy pace. Besides all this, he shared his vast and knowledgeable experience of spearheading Indian space programme by saying, “The Indian space programme started in a humble way with the launch of tiny sounding rockets weighing just a few kilograms. But today we have an impressive array of achievements with total self reliance in design and development of state-of-the-art satellites and launch vehicles. India is considered a space power to reckon with”. Starting from Nano technology to space launching, he spotlight the use of hydrogen gas as an alternate fuel for automotive power.

Last but not least, that day was really a grand occasion for IIT-ians and wish best of luck for their future. After all, they are the bright future of India.
