The Commonwealth Games which are being held in New Delhi witnessed its most exciting moment when archrivals India and Pakistan confronted each other for a hockey match at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

The match was a very important one and posed a do or die situation for both the teams. It was the knockout stage and both the teams were evidently desperate to win. The number of spectators was huge and the tickets were sold out way before time. It is very clear that the people were anticipating a match with nail biting excitement. The players gave the fans what they wanted and kept them at the edge of their seats throughout.

The excitement was evidently visible throughout the country and the fans were not let down. This victory would probably be remembered by the Indians for years to come.

The credit goes to the Indian team which had the right amount of aggression and energy which enabled them to seal their position in the competition with the victory. The result of the match seemed very predictable since the Indian team had scored a 2-0 lead pretty early in the game. The match lasted 70 minutes. Sandeep Singh, Shivendra Singh and Saravanjit Singh were the goal scorers. Two of the seven goals were penalty corners.

 Pakistan scored 4 goals and did not give in very easily. They put up a good fight but could not hold back the Indian time. The elation at the stadium was unbelievable as the fans were jubilant and started their victory dance as well.
