Indian CIOs are liberal in adopting IT than their global compeers: IBM CIO Study 2009

IBM has recently conducted a research, as a part of that a comprehensive face-to-face survey done with CIOs across 78 countries and 19 industries, 100 Indian CIOs from organizations of all size were interviewed.

The Survey revealed an interesting fact that Indian Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are more liberal in adopting IT for the growth of their business and organization in comparison to their global compeers. The IBM Survey has also pointed out the key visionary plans for the future.

According to Indian CIOs interviewed as part of this study, the top three priority areas being highlighted for the future were business intelligence & analytics, risk mitigation & governance and virtualization.

The survey Shows that of every 100 Indian CIOs out of which 70 % are coalescing technology to bring more business and innovations in the organization. CIOs in India are anticipated to lead strategic changes through innovative use of business insights gathered by information technology to demonstrate improved business results.

Nipun Mehrotra, the Executive sponsor of the study & Vice-president – General Business IBM Asia Pacific Said, “With competition intensifying across every sector, CIOs are compelled to ‘think out of the box’ and do things differently, more often than their average global counterparts.” Commenting on the findings of this Survey she added, “The India findings of IBM CIO Study 2009 are an indication of Indian CIOs’ aspirations to lead their organizations into the league of the most successful companies worldwide.”

Throughout the world, just 47 % of CIO’s are dynamic and ready to take IT based initiative for expanding the business of their respective organizations. Nearly 64 % of Indian CIOs in comparison to 55 % globally, have introduced information technology in the business in for making optimum use of technology to deliver efficient management and marketing services.

A large number of Indian CIOs have been working to implement newer techniques for supporting customers in line with their plans to bring more transparency in business within next five year.
Online business is also growing and because of that the traditional way of doing business is undergoing sea change in India.
