Today the Indian President Pratibha Patil made history as she successfully flew
in Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet. Indian President Pratibha Patil at the age of 74 in an anti-gravity suit flew with pilot Wing Commander S. Sajan of the Rhino Squadron for near about 30 minutes.

The Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter jet flew at speeds of about 700-800 km/hr and did not touch the supersonic mark of 1,100 km/hrIndian media laid claim that Ms. Patil is the oldest woman in the world to fly in a combat aircraft.

Former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam did a similar sortie in the year 1997. Indian President Pratibha Patil passed a rigorous training with other body fitness activities including yoga and treadmill exercises, for the last two months before she was declared fit by doctors to do the historic feat on Wednesday.
