India’s Telecom Ministry suggests fresh tendering for BSNL order – India’s telecom ministry suggests fresh tendering for BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) order to reduce and lower down costs.

This is one of the largest GSM line order given by BSNL that can help in lowering down costing factor. Last year, BSNL, the India’s no.4 mobile operator called for bids for the supply of 93 million lines in the country’s East, West, North and South zones and is presently doing negotiations with Huwaei [HWT.UL] and Ericsson (ERICb.ST: Quote, Profile and Research) that have been characterized for 3 of the zones.

The proposal for a new tender is just to ascertain that in each zone, there was more than one bidder and BSNL is getting the cheapest cost for the equipment. Along with this, Government has also adjudicated against all Chinese companies for rendering equipments in sensitive border arenas, discovering out Huwaei, which had qualified and stipulated for the western zone.

As per reports, BSNL Chairman Mr. Kuldeep Goyal could not reach instantly for the comments.
