Yesterday evening was very special because two celestial bodies conjunct together in the sky,The moon and the Jupiter (Jovian planet). The Spectators witnessed a beautiful conjunction which dazzled the evening Sky. It was a lovely treat for amateur astronomers and all other spectators.
Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE) president Chandra Bhushan Devgun revealed to PTI that Jupiter came close to Gibbus moon to form the conjunction in the southeastern sky. The celestial phenomenon occurred soon after sunset and was visible till late in the night.
In Astronomy conjunction stands for “ the coincidence of two or more heavenly bodies at the same celestial longitude” or the state of two or more such coinciding heavenly bodies.
In Astrology it means “The coincidence of two or more heavenly bodies at the same celestial longitude, characterized by a unification of the planetary energies; an astrological aspect.
The conjunction was easily seen through naked eyes in thinly-clouded sky and city lights.
The two heavenly bodies, The moon and The Jupiter were around 3.5 degrees apart, that means as seen from earth the apparent distance between them in the sky was 7 times the size of full moon.
