Meridian Delhi wins Honda’s Jazz advertising and marketing duties: Meridian Delhi has won the creative duties for the Jazz, the latest car from Honda SIEL Cars India (HSCI). The win follows a multi-agency pitch. Honda Jazz is coming to India this year and the company has hired the services of Meridian Delhi for advertising and marketing.
In December 2008, HSCI had called for a multi-agency pitch process, which saw agencies like McCann’s T.A.G., Wieden+Kennedy, Dentsu, Fortune ADAK participating, apart from Meridian.
HSCI’s Jazz will compete with Maruti’s A-Star, Splash and Hyundai’s i20, which are among the recent launches, plus the yet-to-be-launched Fiat Grande Punto.
In India, the Jazz brand competes with Skoda Fabia, Maruti’s A-Star, Splash, the yet-to-be-launched Fiat Grande Punto and the Hyundai i20. The Jazz is powered by a specially developed 1200cc VTEC engine and the price is estimated to be in the Rs 5.5-Rs 6 lakh.
Currently Honda has four major global platforms – the Accord, the Civic, the CRV and the Fit/Jazz/City. Although it does have market specific platforms, these are its four basic global model families.
The 1.3 liter Jazz’s i-VTEC engine puts out a nice 100 PS at 6,000rpm and 127Nm of torque at 4,800rpm, while the 1.5 liter Jazz’s i-VTEC engine makes 120 PS at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,800rpm. For Japan, a continuously variable transmission is standard, powering with the front or optionally all four wheels.
The car was launched in Japan last year and may get a good market in India that has withstood recession at least when it comes to car sales in the country.
