Public sector lender Oriental Bank of Commerce today reported a 14.31 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 270.80 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009.
The banks total income increased to Rs 2800.9 crore as against Rs 2361 crore in the same quarter last year.Net interest income went up 8.21 per cent to Rs 561.94 crore during the quarter ended September 2009 as against Rs 519.28 crore during the corresponding period year.
During the quarter the state-run lender’s interest income increased 16.11 per cent to Rs 2,495.83 crore, while interest expenditure stood at Rs 1,934.79 crore, up 18.69 per cent over the year-ago period.
Shares of OBC were trading at Rs 263.35, up 1.31 per cent in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
