Google Homepage today is ‘Full of Life’. ‘My India full of life’ Google Doodle has been designed by Puru Pratap Singh. Puru Pratap Singh, nine year old, a 4th standard student from Gurgaon (NCR), has been announced as the winner of the Doodle 4 Google competition. His doodle was chosen from over 4000 doodles submitted by students across the country, and was selected based on artistic merit, creativity, and expression of the theme.
Google homepage, ‘My India full of life’ displays, ‘G’ in the shape of a peacock; ‘O’ represents the wisdom of India; ‘O’ again shows the discovery of water on the moon by India; ‘G’ shows that part of India which is known as paradise on earth – Kashmir; ‘L’ is designed as the rifle at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate; and ‘E’ depicts, the ‘Father of the Nation,’ Mahatma Gandhi.
Puru was helped by his mother, Arti Singh, Art teacher on the artwork and the thinking of concept was done by his father, N.P. Singh.
Puru is a student of Sector 43 branch of Amity International School, Gurgaon. “It feels special to have won it,” says Singh.
The winning doodle is titled “My India – Full of Life”. In addition to having his doodle on the Google homepage appear all day today, Children’s Day Puru Pratap Singh has won a laptop computer, a t-shirt with his doodle and a INR I,00,000 technology grant for his school.
Puru has other plans for future. He wants to become a scientist, not an artist as they are not paid well, says the 4th standard boy, Puru.
The contest was open to all students from Grade 1 and 10 in India. “My India” was the theme of this competition. Google had asked students to create a doodle by giving an illustrative representation of what India means to them. The panel of judges includes faculty and students of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, renowned cartoonist N Ponnappa, and a young emerging Indian artist Raghava KK.
Dennis Hwang, Original Doodler and the Master Doodler chose the first-ever young doodler for India on the basis of ‘innovation and creativity’, Puru Pratap Singh.
