RIM unveils Blackberry App World in India
Research in Motion (RIM), the maker of the smart phone Blackberry, has unveiled its BlackBerry App World in India. It was launched globally on April 1. BlackBerry smartphone users can download the BlackBerry App World on their phones by visiting the site www.blackberry.com/appworld in the mobile web browser. BlackBerry App World is available on BlackBerry handsets running Blac, kBerry OS 4.2 or higher.
To download the BlackBerry App World an active data service connection is required and the data charges will be applicable after downloading the app.
The BlackBerry App World has a range of various applications available as free downloads and paid ones too. Hungama MyPlay, CNBC TV18 Moneycontrol, Mundu Radio and Arromatics are few Indian-centric applications.
Hungama MyPlay: A music player and an online store to browse and download content such as latest ringtones, wallpapers, music tracks and videos clips.
CNBC TV18: The application displays live news from CNBC TV-18 and Moneycontrol.com, and allows users to search stock prices on NSE / BSE and global indices as well as use personal finance tools.
Mundu Radio App: Geodesic’s application that accesses free Internet radio stations (which you can get from an aggregator such as Shoutcast) and streams music on your handset.
BlackBerry smartphone users can therefore, enjoy variety of apps on their smartphones now with this on-device application store.
Application Storage can be quite handy since it includes a folder called My World. This folder acts as personal storage and keeps a track of apps downloaded. Application archiving feature allows users to archive their apps on their phone’s built-in memory or a microSD memory card.
