K.S. Sudarshan is the former chief of RSS. His derogatory comments about Congress President Sonia Gandhi led the Congress party to a warpath on Friday. It has been reported that an FIR has been lodged against him in Jaipur and a defamation case has been filed in Bhopal against him. Violent protests by party activists emerged in the country following the comments. It has been reported that Congress party activists burnt effigies and staged rallies against him in several states.
Both RSS and BJP after this incident got busy in controlling the damage. However RSS issued a statement saying that the views of Sudarshan did not represent the party’s view. In fact Prakash Javadekar who is BJP spoke person says that they also share same views with RSS. Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi, the general secretary of Sangh expressd his regret over the alleged statement. He said that it has hurt the sentiments of people and led to unfortunate developments.
After this incident different demonstrations by Congress took place through out the whole nation. In Delhi police had to use water canons to remove the protestors from RSS headquarter at Jhandelwalan. Even in West Bengal a demonstration by Congress party activists was organized. The main road joining South and North Kolkata was blocked for 2o minutes by Congress demonstrators. An effigy of Sudarshan was burnt in Esplanade area.
Reports of demonstrations also came from Patna. Hundreds of party activists assembled near Patna junction. A procession was brought out near the Dak Bungalow roundabout. In Jaipur police registered a criminal case against him Sudarshan.
