Samsung Launched Two New S Line 640GB & 2TB External Hard Drives – Samsung has launched two new external hard drives in S line having capacities of 640GB and 2TB. The move has been taken by the company to cater increasing demand from users for storage devices with larger capacities.
Both the devices are in compact style and design. Priory the S line series didn’t offer any hard drive exceeding capacity of 500GB. Samsung has brought up external hard drives with larger capacities, succeeding the earlier limit. The 640GB S2 portable is 2.5 inches long whereas the 2TB S3 portable is 3.5 inches long.
The VP of Marketing and storage systems division at Samsung Electronics, Cheol-hee Lee stated, “As consumer demands continue to escalate for storing personal data, music and video files, Samsung has expanded its extensive family of external hard drives to support the growing personal storage market,” He went on to add, “The new drives provide users with a sleek design and high-density choices in both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factors.”
If you are in a dilemma that how much data could be stored in S2 640GB portable, then it will be equivalent to data comprising approx. 160,000 MP3 music files, 128,000 digital images and 77 hours of definition movies. The S2 portable is conceptualized to store digital media data while S3 portable is designed to store complete back up of PC.
Both of them are comprised with Safety key, Secret zone and Auto back up functionalities. It has been expected that S2 portable 640 GB will be available by this month, whereas S3 portable 2TB will be available by the starting of next year. The pricing has not yet been disclosed.
