A new study the electromagnetic waves also known as EM waves pose a threat to the honey bees and an abrupt and drastic decrease in the bee population was observed in areas that had installed new cell phone towers.
This observation was done by scientists from kerala who concluded that bee hives collapse if EM waves in high density are present in the surrounding areas.Here is a look how.
Everyone is aware of the fact that all transmitting towers such as AM and FM towers and TV and Mobile phone towers emit microwave radiation. The radiation can cause a host of debilitating illnesses including brain tumor, sleep disorder, anxiety and so on to human beings but now the Net or mobile towers are not only creating complication for human beings but also troubling the sensing systems of honeybees in Kerala.

The electromagnetic radiation coming out from the growing number of mobile towers as well as cell phones is posing as a threat for the honey bees. This radiation hits the worker bees while they are out to collect nectar from flowers and kills them. The worker bees that went out for collecting nectar found problem in searching their hive while coming back and because of that the immature eggs, bees and queen bees suffers badly.
You will be surprised to know, a recent study has been done on Honey bees in which a mobile phone is kept near a beehive and because of the electromagnetic waves the bee hive collapsed in just ten days.
Dr Sainudeen Pattazhy, Reader in Zoology and also working as an active environmentalist, has revealed hidden fact in his report based on cell phone radiation harms. He informed in the report that in the past decade there has been noticeable decrease in bee hives due to the ever increasing number of mobile towers.
