There is a speculation that people try to pose a good image of them on to the social networking profile in order to attract others but a new finding surprised everyone. The study findings are that netizens use their profile to communicate real attributes instead of idealized virtual identity.
A study has done by the scientists on online social networking profiles at the University of Texas, Austin which communicates that the Facebook conveys accurate pictures.
Lead author Sam Gosling of the research has done study over 700 million people online profiles. Gosling and a team of researchers compiled 236 profiles of college-aged people from the US (Facebook) and Germany (StudiVZ, SchuelerVZ) and reported thru journal Psychological Science .The Lead author himself surprised by the findings as the report declares contradictory results than widely speculated idea.
The researcher revealed that online profiles are working as a mass medium of engaging in genuine social interaction same as over the phone we interact. The researchers concluded that by expressing genuine profile bestows to the popularity of social networking site. It permits the users to know and profile users can rust the information revealed by others.
