STS-129 is the 31st shuttle mission to the station. Mission Specialists are Robert Satcher, Michael Foreman, Randy Bresnik and Leland Melvin. Wilmore, Satcher and Bresnik will be making their first trips to space.
Mike Foreman and Robert Satcher, set to perform the first spacewalk of the mission Thursday i.e. today and the spacewalk is slated to begin at 9:18 a.m Space shuttle Atlantis’ astronauts will float outside to hook up a spare antenna and cables on the ISS.
Mike Foreman and Robert Satcher spent the entire night in the Quest airlock as part of the overnight “campout” procedure that helps purge nitrogen from their bloodstreams, preventing decompression sickness once they move out into the vacuum of space.
The ISS crew is scheduled to go to sleep at 7:58 p.m. EST, and the shuttle crew heads to bed a half hour later. Both crews are set to wake up Thursday at 4:28 a.m. The first spacewalk is intended to begin at 9:18 a.m.
