Auto Expo 2010 will see Maruti Suzuki, Inida’s largest carmaker showcasing an amazing array of 17 vehicles. The last Auto Expo in 2008 Maruti Suzuki adopted the theme ‘Colours of Life’. However, this time it is its extension with the theme called ‘Joys of Life’.

Maruti Suzuki’s the luxury Sedan; Suzuki Kizashi which has been imported exclusively for the show will be also on display.

Maruti will showcase a Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) to be named R3. Maruti Suzuki will display concepts for a hybrid on its SX4 sedan at the upcoming auto expo.
The government’s National Hybrid Propulsion Programme (NHPP) aspires to develop a swift of clean fuel vehicles for the October 2010 Commonwealth Games. This is very much in line with what China did for the Beijing Olympics. Government has partnered a clutch of automakers that would get together to develop these vehicles that would be used for ferrying players. Government would bear half of the cost of development work.
This would be the first single effort on hybrids and electric vehicles for Maruti Suzuki. The company will deliver ten vehicles for the Commonwealth Games.
Tata Motors, M&M, Ashok Leyland, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto and TVS are some other companies involved in the NHPP programme besides members of the academia and research professionals.

The NHPP will be a three-phase enterprise with the first phase implying presentation of technology at Commonwealth Games in October 2010, the second phase emphasizing on R&D and localisation of technology by 2012 and the final phase climaxing at localisation of technology for mass production by 2015-16.

Maruti Suzuki ‘Joys of Life’ concept is in ideal synchronization with Maruti Suzuki’s position as a ‘people’s carmaker’.
