TATA DOCOMO, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, in collaboration with Microsoft India has announced to launch next generation telecom products and services to Indian users. They will be launching new generation Windows Mobile 6.5 powered smart phones.
Acer Be Touch E101 and Acer Neo Touch S200 are the first two models to be launched in the Indian market.
Anil Sardana, MD, Tata Teleservices Limited, said, “In the immediate term, the partnership will involve the promotion of new Windows Phones-Acer Be Touch E101 and Acer Neo Touch s200, powered by Windows Mobile 6.5.”
Windows Mobile 6.5 smart phones come preloaded with new apps like My Phone and Windows Marketplace for Mobile.
As per Mr. Anil “Our partnership was exclusive to a point to bring it first to the customer”, by ensuring innovation in services and new applications.”
“This is in keeping with the brand presence and positioning of TATA DOCOMO, which stands for being liberated and relevant.”
Ravi Venkatesan, chairman, Microsoft Corporation added: “Consumers today want to carry their world of information, applications and entertainment wherever they go. A Windows Phone seamlessly moves between work and play, providing the best of both worlds.”
He also said that they are speedily trying to develop new kind of muscle, other than the potentialities they already have in the PC space.
India is the first mobile market where numerous users have experienced internet first on the mobile and then at the PC, it was significant to develop abilities in the mobile space. He elucidated the thrust on the mobile space.
“We want to take our knowledge, strength, relationships in the PC space to the mobile platform”, he said adding the partnership with TATA DOCOMO would be to drive innovation and go to the market with it.
This was also TATA DOCOMO’s plan of assuring affordability and bringing down cost of access and scaling down the total ownership cost of devices and services.
