A three-day international meet on climate change and its impact on forests began in Shimla on 19th November. The participants in the three-day conference on ‘Forestry Solutions’ from Jammu and Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand besides host Himachal Pradesh in addition to experts from the US discussed in length the problems concerning to the forest under impact of climate change.

Hundreds of delegates from different parts of India and renowned environmental scientists from abroad are attending the meet.

Chief scientist Environmental Defence Fund International Work Program, United States of America, Stefen Hamburg, said, that understanding the changes in climate was important to help forests survive those changes.

He further added, “So, the forests are changing, in order to adapt to that changing environment we need to understand how to manage those forests and to ensure that they survive.”
