Till date , Twitter notifications via SMS service is available in United States , UK, Canada, New Zealand and now in India. Twitter can penetrate more due to Airtel message service in India. Currently India has more than 457 million mobile subscribers. The twitter co –founder has said in the blog post at Official Twitter Blog,”We worked quickly to establish full SMS service in India with the largest operator because organic growth in the region has been unusually strong and there is huge potential for positive impact.”

Bharti Airtel the most renowned mobile network in India has join hands with Twitter. Now the Bharti Airtel users can tweet directly via mobile SMS. Bharti Airtel is permitting its users to tweet under its four week exclusive business deal with twitter, in which the Airtel subscribers can get updated notifications via Text message (SMS) on their mobile handset directly.

Twitter is a free micro-blogging service that allows users to update their status messages in 140 characters. In the year 2008, Twitter can be accessed through SMS in India but it was discontinued because of high expenses.
