World’s fastest growing cellular market witnesses major players of the mobile sector locked in a tariff war. According to industry analysts, customers have been the biggest gainers of the ongoing tariff war. That comes at the cost of mobile operators losing out on grosses. Vodafone Essar, India ’s leading cellular services providers introduced new roaming tariff plan on Friday, Dec 4, which proffer significant diminution in national roaming rates for its Postpaid and Prepaid customers which further escalates the price war in the telecom sector.

All mobile operators introduced the pay per second billing plan; Tata Docomo was the first one to launch pay per second billing plan. Bharti Airtel, has recently announced a 60 per cent cut in roaming charges under a new Turbo plan.

To enjoy a flat rate of 70p/minute for national roaming customers can either opt for the ‘Travel Plan’ or the ‘Ticket Plan’ to enjoy flat national roaming rates of 1.5p/sec. These plans will be valid when customers hook on to the Vodafone network while roaming in India.
Travel Plan @ Rs 58 and Ticket Plan @ Rs 62 from Vodafone retail outlets for prepaid customers. These tariff plans carry a validity of 365 days from the date of recharge.
@ Rs. 299 ‘Travel Plan’ or the Rs. 299 ‘Ticket Plan’ to enjoy the new per minute and per second roaming tariffs respectively can be chosen by Post-paid customers. In addition to the flat 70p/minute national roaming rate, the Rs 299 Travel Plan proffers a flat rate of 50p/per min on local and STD calls and 175 mins free on local and STD calls per month.
Likewise, in addition to the flat roaming rate of 1.5p/sec, the Rs 299 ‘Ticket Plan’ proffers the customer a flat local and STD rate of 1p/sec and 10,000 free local and STD seconds per month.
