Windows 7 pirated Version is available from Rs 40 to 250 in India market
Surprised to read the title! But this is true DVDs of the pirated Windows 7 have been sold since hitting the local markets within 24 hours of the official launch. From the date of launch till today near about 50,000 pirated DVDs of Microsoft Windows 7 are likely to have been sold in India.
Software piracy is a big problem plaguing many emerging economies, limiting the full potential of the local software industry to a large extent. The Indian Software industry is facing million dollar revenue loss due to pirated software sales.
Microsoft has launched windows 7 officially on Oct 22 but could not able to nip the business of pirated DVDs. The Pirated business has already generated around Rs. 50 lakh in India. In India most of the people thinks that why to spent Rs. 10000 when the same utility can be obtained just by spending Rs. 250.
Pirated DVDs are available widely at the famous computer hardware and software markets in India. The DVDs can be purchased at Rs 40-250.Much to the surprise the shopkeepers and buyers both do not consider it as illegal sale and purchase.
Not Only in India pirated DVDs are widely available in Bangladesh and Nepal.
The legal version of the new operating system windows 7 is introduced by Microsoft Corp costs between Rs 7,500-Rs15,000 in the international markets. In order to sell the legal version the company, however, tagged its prices 20 percent below international rates in India, where it is available in the Rs 6,000-Rs 11,000 range through official channels.
