Wipro Technologies will employ approx. 8,500 Employees this fiscal – The software giant, Wipro Technologies will employ approx. 8,500 employees this year. According to joint CEO and IT business at Wipro Mr. Girish Paranjape, “The Company has further plans to go forward with the campus recruitment early next year to fulfill the requirement of next year.”
In addition he stated, “Our strategy is to recruit non-engineering graduates, in addition to engineering and make them fit into the slot. We are still working out the details.” Denying disclosing more detailed information for next year’s recruitment and outlook, Mr. Girish Paranjape told that it would be a mix of 60% freshers and 40% experienced.
“Wipro will honor the offers it had made last year. We will be hiring 5,000 people in a space of two months and by June next year, we should have brought on board all those who were offered,” he said. After experiencing its client’s budgets better, the company will firm up its hiring strategy and besides this Paranjape commenced, “Many of our clients are in budget-making stage and with evident signs of revival in the industry, further cuts in IT budgets of companies is not expected. We hope to know their budgets by January-February next year. Once we get an idea about their budgets and spend levels, we will get a good sense of what to hire.”
Unlike IT companies, this time Wipro has been hiring individuals not just from engineering stream but from other streams and will train them over a period of time to be ready for the industry. For its Hyderabad center, IT solutions provider hires around 9,000 people. Though, the company that has acquired approx. 4-5% of revenues from the Middle markets will not be striked by Dubai debt crisis.
Previous year, the company creates offers to as many as 8,500 peoples through recruitment drives in colleges and institutions. On the sidelines of devoting renovated Manikonda lake at Hyderabad facility to the community, Paranjpe said to reporters that, “We expect clients to make no further cuts in their budgets. We expect 2010 to be a better year than 2009.”
Attrition rate in the company endured at 10%. New hiring practices will be worked out in a month or two. The power consumption of the company went down by 12% last year and the company has been planning to construct a micro windmill at its Hyderabad center very soon. While, the company consumes nearly 75 megawatt power from both Government and internal sources.
